Children and teenagers learning German in a small group at Studyfreunde in Accra

At Studyfreunde in Airport West, children and teenagers learn German in groups of no more than four, always with learners of a similar age. Whether they grew up with German at home or are starting from zero, they are placed where they will actually learn.

Children, 6 to 11
Reading, spelling and writing for children who speak German at home, and a playful, step by step start for beginners. Lessons mix conversation, stories, games and writing, so German stays something children enjoy.

Teenagers, 12 to 19
School German, grammar and written German at the level teens need, Goethe exam preparation and real conversation. Teens aged 12 to 17 are also welcome at the Saturday Jugendtreff.

What you will learn

Speaking and understanding everyday German, reading and writing at the right level, and grammar and vocabulary that build step by step. Teenagers can work towards a Goethe certificate or the level a school or university in Germany asks for, and we shape the lessons around that goal.

What is included

Level-appropriate worksheets and learning materials, interactive speaking and listening activities, games and creative tasks that keep learning fun, and regular feedback on progress. Every family can also borrow from our German library, with picture books, readers and novels for different ages and levels.

Who this is for

Children and teenagers aged 6 to 19: complete beginners with no German at home, children and teens growing up bilingual who need reading and writing, and teenagers preparing for school German or a Goethe exam.

How we group our German classes for children in Accra

Children and teenagers are placed by age and by level, not by age alone. A six-year-old beginner and a fifteen-year-old who already speaks German at home are never in the same lesson. Because groups depend on who is currently enrolled, placement stays flexible, and we match each learner to the class where they will learn best. Siblings can share a group or learn at their own level. A 10% family discount applies from the second family member.

Younger brothers and sisters are welcome too: see German for children aged three to five. Parents can learn as well, see Parents learn too. The overview of all our German classes in Accra shows every age group in one place, and you can book a free trial lesson before deciding anything.

That is one of the most common reasons families come to Studyfreunde. Children are placed by age and by level, not by age alone, so a six year old beginner and a fifteen year old who grew up with German are never in the same lesson.
