German for parents and family members of children who learn at Studyfreunde. In a small group of up to four, in person in Airport West, alongside your child’s lesson or at a time that suits you.
Many parents tell us the same thing: their child is learning German, and they would like to keep up, help with homework or finally speak the language of the other side of the family. At Studyfreunde, parents and family members of our learners can take lessons of their own, from the very first words or at a more advanced level.
Lessons can run at the same time as your child’s lesson, with another teacher, so one trip to Airport West covers both. Or they can sit at a time that suits you better, for example while your child is at school.
A child who sees a parent learning stops thinking of German as homework. That is the main reason we offer parent lessons: German at home grows when the whole family takes part, even with a few words a day. Groups are formed by level, so you learn with other parents at the same stage, never together with the children.

Practical speaking for everyday family life, listening, reading and writing, and grammar and vocabulary built step by step, so you can follow and support your child’s German.

Small groups of up to four adults, in person in Airport West, at the same time as your child’s lesson or at a time that suits you. The same plans and prices as for children, with the family discount.
How parent lessons work
Parent groups are formed by level, separately from the children. If you start at the same time as your child, your group can often run in parallel with another teacher. The family discount applies: 10% from the second family member enrolled and 15% from the third.
Saturdays for the whole family
Learning does not stop at the lesson. On selected Saturdays, parents meet at the Familien-Café over coffee and German board games, while children join the Spielgruppe or the Jugendtreff. It is the easiest way to use your German with other families in Accra. See the Saturday programme.

How much do parent lessons cost?
The same plans as for children: one lesson a week is GHS 1,200 a month, two lessons GHS 2,200 and three lessons GHS 3,200. The family discount applies: 10% from the second family member and 15% from the third.
Do I need to know any German?
No. Many parents start with no German at all. In a free first lesson we find your level and the group that fits.
Can I learn at the same time as my child?
Often yes. If a teacher is free at your child’s lesson time, your group can run in parallel. Otherwise we find a time that suits you, Tuesday to Friday between 12pm and 5pm or Saturday between 10am and 2pm.
