Our Saturday programme is first of all for Studyfreunde learners, for whom every session is included at no extra cost. Families who are not yet with us are welcome to join on prior request; a single visit costs GHS 150 per person, and for some sessions, such as crafts or baking, a small charge for materials may come on top. Places are limited, so please register before you come.

German movie night
Our conference room became a small cinema. We watched Alvin and the Chipmunks in German with English subtitles, and parents brought snacks and drinks for the children, from Apfelschorle to Ameisenkuchen.
Little Animal Artists
We read a dog story about Zusammenhalt and being unique: everyone has their own strength, and together they can solve the problem, just like children. Afterwards everyone drew their own picture.
Familien-Café
We had planned 1pm to 3pm and were still talking at 7pm. An afternoon full of fun, laughter, advice and support among German-speaking families in Accra.
German Playgroups: Deutsche Spielgruppe in Accra
Our German playgroup is a relaxed place for bilingual children and for children learning German with us. Through play, songs, stories and shared activities they use German naturally, meet other German-speaking children in Accra and build confidence without the pressure of a lesson. For families looking for a deutsche Spielgruppe in Accra, this is it.
From October, every age group gets its own Saturdays. The next dates are in the programme above. For children enrolled in a course at Studyfreunde, every Saturday session is included at no extra cost. Families who are not yet with us are welcome on prior request; a single visit costs GHS 150 per person, and for some sessions a small charge for materials may come on top.

Community Events: Deutsche Community in Accra
Studyfreunde is more than a place to learn German. Our Saturdays bring deutsche Familien in Accra, bilingual families and families learning German with us together: the playgroup, the Jugendtreff for teenagers and the Familien-Café for parents and German speakers. That is how a German-speaking community in Accra grows, one Saturday at a time.
Larger events such as a German movie evening or the Little Animal Artists afternoon happen a few times a year; you can read about them on our blog. Everything we do outside the classroom grows out of what happens inside it: our approach explains how we teach, and about us tells you who is behind Studyfreunde.

Who can come, what happens and how to register.
Who can come to the Saturday programme?
It is first of all for Studyfreunde learners, for whom every session is included at no extra cost. Other families are welcome on request for GHS 150 per session.
Does my child need to speak German to join the Spielgruppe?
No. The sessions are in German, and children who are just starting pick up a lot by joining in with songs, games and stories. The Spielgruppe is for ages 3 to 11, teenagers from 12 to 17 come to the Jugendtreff.
Do we have to register?
Yes, please tell Vanessa beforehand by WhatsApp. Places are limited and the room is set up for the age group of that Saturday.
What is the Familien-Cafe?
An afternoon for adults, with or without children, where parents of Studyfreunde learners, German speakers, expats and newcomers to Accra meet over coffee and speak German. It takes place on selected Saturdays from 1pm to 5pm. The next date is always shown on this page.
