More than a language school
German for every age in Accra
Studyfreunde is a German language learning centre in Accra, Ghana, founded in 2025 by a qualified German teacher who moved from Germany to Ghana with a clear vision: to bring structured, joyful, and high-quality German education to one of West Africa’s most vibrant cities.
Accra is home to a growing community of expat families, bilingual children, and adults with deep ties to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Many of them struggled to find German classes in Accra that truly met their needs: German for young children, heritage-language support for bilingual kids, exam preparation for adults planning to relocate. Studyfreunde was founded to fill that gap.
Today we offer small-group German classes in Accra for children from age 3 through to teenagers and adults. For teenagers and adults, online lessons are also available on request.
What we offer spans every age: Early Learning for children aged 3 to 6, German classes for kids and teens, and lessons for adults from A1 to C1. Beyond the classroom, our community brings families together through play groups, events, and shared experiences.
Our Mission
To make German learning joyful, structured, and accessible for every learner in Accra and beyond, through small group lessons, qualified teaching, and a calm, supportive community where every learner feels seen and builds real confidence in German.
Our Vision
Our vision is for Studyfreunde to become Ghana’s go to place for flexible German lessons, the school families and learners turn to when they want to learn German around their everyday lives. We want German, from first words to advanced levels, to be easy to access and easy to pay for: lessons after school or around a busy week, for children at any school, for adults, and for whole families learning together. By paying locally in cedis, our learners avoid the cost and hassle of international transfers and expensive lessons from abroad.
Alongside this, we are opening a bilingual German and English kindergarten in Accra for children aged 3 to 6, giving our youngest learners a joyful, caring start in both languages, with our first intake in 2027.

Vanessa
Founder and Lead Teacher
Studyfreunde is led by Vanessa, a qualified German teacher. Born and raised in Germany, she moved to Accra to share her language and her love of teaching. Every learner is taught by her personally, so each lesson is warm, structured, and shaped around the individual, from the very little ones discovering their first German words to adults preparing for a new chapter in Germany. Studyfreunde grew from one belief: that learners thrive when they feel safe, seen, and genuinely supported. That belief shapes every lesson, every age group, and the whole community around the school.
